On February 27, 2020, during a ceremonial session of the Senate, the Białostock University of Technology awarded the highest academic degree with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUKE, Professor Jozef Živčák and the title of Honorary Professor to Jan Ryszard Dąbrowski.
“Professor Jozef Živčák is our eleventh doctor honoris causa, but the first to come from abroad,” emphasized the rector of the Technical University in Bialystok, prof. Lech Dzienis.
“Professor Živčák participated in the educational process of our students, supported our employees in professional development, participated in joint research. He developed a relatively young scientific discipline – biomedical engineering, which is currently one of the ten evaluated scientific disciplines at our university. This honorary doctorate is therefore the culmination of a period of cooperation lasting more than 20 years. Very valuable cooperation, because at the international level – which is the highest level of internationalization of the university, “added the rector.
Professor Jozef Živčák from the Technical University in Košice is a pioneer in the development and implementation of custom implants using generative techniques. In cooperation with the Biomedical Engineering Institute (BMI), he initiated the creation of an incremental technology center at the Technical University in Košice. He is the author of many solutions in the field of design and production of clinical implementations. Undoubtedly, he contributed to the development of implemented implant technology.
“If someone had told me 20 years ago that I would lead a team of technicians who would work closely with doctors, even in the operating room – I would consider it science fiction. Today, this is an obvious and compulsory matter. The symbiosis of the activities of biomedical engineers and doctors brings great results and great satisfaction, “said Professor Jozef Živčák.
