Basic information

The basic conditions for admission to the II. level of the study programme, pursuant to §53 Par. 1 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendment to Certain Acts, is a successful completion of the I. or II. level of university education, where the sum of the number of obtained credits for completed education and the number of credits required for the completion of the study programme for which the applicant applies must be at least 300 credits. For study applicants who have obtained the required education abroad, the condition for admission is the recognition of evidence of education according to the regulation issued by the Ministry.

The application is submitted in electronic forme-application.

No high school classification certificate or doctor confirmation is required for the application..

Follow-up of the I. and II. study levels

Graduates of Bachelor studies (I. level of university studies) have the opportunity to continue their studies in any Master study programme (II. level of university studies).


Form of selection

Study admission will take place in the form of a selection procedure. There are no entrance exams.

Conditions

The basic condition for admission to the study of Master study programmes (I. level of university study) is the successful completion of the I. level of the study programme. Fulfilment of the I. level education conditions and eligibility for II. level studies is assessed by the admissions committee on the basis of the structure and content of the completed subjects of the previous study programme. The Faculty reserves the right to decide whether the content of the I. level study programme, which the applicant has completed, corresponds to the requirements for the study of the relevant II. level study programme.

 

Evaluation criteria

Applicants for Master studies at FME TUKE will be evaluated primarily on the basis of the results of the Bachelor studies – on the basis of the study average, calculated from the following formula,

where Zi  is the percentage gained from the i-th study subject, Ki is the number of credits of the i-th subject, and n  is the number of subjects evaluated by credits and classification level. If the applicant has completed the first level of his/her study with a different evaluation scale than the one established by the Study Regulations of the Technical University of Košice (0% – 100%), the faculty reserves the right to recalculate in accordance to this scale.

Selection procedure

  1. In the admission procedure, a descending order of applicants will be created according to study averages. An applicant with a higher study average will precede an applicant with a lower study average of grades from the Bachelor studies. The conditions for admission are met by applicants who place in the relevant ranking in the first Nplaces, where N is the number of applicants that the faculty plans to admit to the study programme.
  2. The Faculty reserves the right to adjust the number of applicants it plans to admit to the study programme, depending on the current number of applicants, current social demand and current capacity.
  3. The final decision on the admission of applicants will be made by the Dean of FME TUKE on the basis of the admissions committee’s recommendation.
  4. Applicants for Master studies at FME TUKE will be admitted to full-time study by the attendance and combined method. The standard length of Master studies is two years.
  5. Applicants who do not fulfil the basic conditions for admission to study at the time of verification, may be admitted to study conditionally, provided that he / she proves the fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission to study no later than on the day designated for enrolment.

It is necessary to state two study programs (preferred and alternative) in the application. The placement of an applicant in a selected study programme is based on the results of his Bachelor studies and also on the overall demand for the given study programme.

Applications can be submitted only electronically via the e-application form in the MAIS information system.. The MAIS applicant interface allows, in addition to filling in and printing out the application, also monitoring of, e.g. the processing status, acknowledgment of receipt and validity, decisions on acceptance, decisions on appeals. Further details of the electronic application will be updated and published on the website of the faculty www.sjf.tuke.sk.

Mandatory study application annex:

  • Officially verified copy of the Bachelor studies diploma (only students who obtained a Bachelor’s degree at a faculty other than FME TUKE).
  • Officially verified copy of the diploma annex or a list of subjects completed during the Bachelor studies, including subject assessment and obtained credits (only students who obtained a Bachelor’s degree at a faculty other than FME TUKE).
  • Confirmation of changes of medical fitness, e.g. ZTP card, if no document is submitted, it is assumed that the applicant is medically fit.
  • Proof of admission fee payment.
  • Curriculum Vitae.

The condition for admission is the recognition of the proof of education, which the foreign applicant is obliged to submit no later than on the day of enrolment.

Pursuant to §39 of Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of documents of education, on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment of Certain Acts, the level of education is recognized pursuant to international agreements. Documents from countries with which the Slovak Republic has signed a bilateral agreement and the countries of the European Higher Education Area are subject to this simplified recognition. Further information on the recognition of documents can be found  here.

Pursuant to §33 of Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of certificates of education, recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment of Certain Acts, the certificate of education in the relevant field of study is recognized (documents from countries that are not members of the European Higher Education Area and the Slovak Republic has not signed a bilateral agreement; or documents from countries with which the Slovak Republic has signed a bilateral agreement and the countries of the European Higher Education Area if the applicant is interested in the recognition of a certificate of education in a specific field of study).
