Q&A – First Week at SjF TUKE

  1. When does the semester start?
    Answer: The academic year 2025/2026 begins on September 22, 2025 (Monday) with a ceremonial opening at Slávia TUKE stadium at 8:15 a.m.

  2. Where can I find the latest information about faculty events?
    Answer: Follow us on social media via Facebook – Strojnícka fakulta TUKE and Instagram – @strojnickafakulta. All relevant information is also available on the faculty website: https://www.sjf.tuke.sk
  3. How can I check my class schedule?
    Answer: The schedule is available in the MAIS system: https://student.tuke.sk or via MAIS PORTAL https://maisportal.tuke.sk/portal. After logging in, you can see when, where, and with whom each course is taught.
  4. What is MAIS and what is it for?
    Answer: MAIS is the university information system where you register for courses, track your grades, sign up for exams, and communicate with the faculty.
  5.  What is MS Teams and how do I use it?
    Answer: MS Teams is a widely available application for online classes, communication with lecturers, consultations, and sharing materials.
  6. How do I log in to MS Teams?
    Answer: Log in at https://teams.microsoft.com using your MAIS login credentials and your university email (e.g., abc123@student.tuke.sk).
  7. How does the university email work?
    Answer: Every student has a university email in the format abc123@student.tuke.sk, which is used for official communication with the faculty and the university. Use the same login credentials as for the MAIS system. https://uvt.tuke.sk/sk/e-mailove-sluzby
  8. Where are the classes held?
    Answer: Classes usually take place on the TUKE campus (Letná 1/9, Block B) or at Mäsiarska Street No. 74. Check the schedule and campus map online.
  9. Do I need to buy textbooks?
    Answer: Not yet. Wait for recommendations from your lecturers. Materials are available online, in MS Teams, or in the university library.
  10. How does attendance work?
    Answer: Attendance at lectures and exercises is mandatory. It is monitored via a sign-in sheet.
  11. How do I contact lecturers?
    Answer: Check their consultation hours on the department’s webpage. You can contact them via email, MS Teams, or in person.
  12. What if I get lost or don’t understand something?
    Answer: Contact the study department, your lecturers, or senior students for help.
  13. Where can I eat?
    Answer: There are canteens, buffets, and vending machines on the TUKE campus. Nearby restaurants (e.g., OC Merkúr) are also recommended.
  14. How do I organize my studies?
    Answer: Use a calendar, meet deadlines, plan your tasks, and communicate with your lecturers.
