Environmental Engineering (EE)

The study programme Environmental Engineering represents a dynamically developing scientific and study area, which records new, hitherto little-declared relationships in the Slovak Republic between the customer, the product, its properties and the environment. It focuses on the environmental quality optimization, research and development of products and environment affecting properties. Graduates are able to design their own problem solutions in the field of customer-oriented technical product quality, as well as environmental quality; master scientific formulas, which they comprehend in the interdisciplinary context of technical, legal, economic, ethical and environmental aspects of complex tasks.

Industrial Engineering (IE)

The study programme Industrial Engineering at the Doctoral level is intended for applicants who will be able to work independently in the field of design, efficiency improvement and optimization of business processes and systems, as well as in the field of their digitization for the needs of Industry 4.0. Students improve the skills acquire at the Bachelors level such as software support design, technical preparation of production, 3D technologies, modelling and simulation of production, logistics processes and systems, as well as in ergonomics. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies from the field of reverse engineering, such as 3D scanning and 3D printing, the fields of virtual and mixed reality, as well as digital enterprise and digital twin. As part of their study activities, Doctoral students participate in scientific research activities, publication of scientific research, conferences, workshops, as well as professional training within their scientific profile. They also participate in the education of students at the lower levels of university studies, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis consultation. As a part of their scientific profile, they have the opportunity to work in specialized laboratories (Testbed 4.0, etc.) and in companies of industrial practice, with which the Institute of Management, Industrial and Digital Engineering cooperates.

Industrial Mechatronics (IMECH)

Mechatronics primarily integrates the knowledge from the fields of mechanics, electronics, informatics and control. Additionally, it makes it possible to improve the properties of existing products but also the development of completely new products. Mechatronics is already well established in almost all industries, such as automotive industry, industrial automation, robotics, consumer electronics, etc. Mechatronic options attract customers due to their user-friendliness as well as simplicity. A typical example is the automotive industry, e.g. the various assistance systems that increase comfort and safety, etc. This myriad of enhancements is the reason why customers prefer the options provided by mechatronic products. The study programme is focused on the preparation of experts in mechanical and electrical engineering that possess the knowledge like basics of automation, informatics, modelling and simulation of operation, production and research of mechatronic systems design.

Parts and Mechanisms of Machinery (PaMoM)

The study programme Parts and Mechanisms of Machinery is one of the basic programmes in the field of machine design. Within this field, top experts are trained in the field of numerical and experimental research and development applicable in all other fields of engineering. The scientific activities of our Doctoral students are focused on machine part optimization, specifically on the torsional oscillating mechanical system optimization, with an emphasis on dangerous torsional vibration magnitude control through the application of pneumatic couplings, research in the control of various sources of vibrations, e.g. automotive gearboxes; drive units of various mechanical systems; etc. Furthermore, attention is given to the area of kinemics and force ratios of spur, helical and non-traditional gear mechanism.
