The study program Biomedical Engineering builds on the knowledge from the master level of the study program Biomedical engineering but also from the bachelor study program Prosthetics and orthotics. Education is focused on implementation of multidisciplinary knowledge and collaboration with medical and veterinary professionals to solve issues related to the systems functionality of the human body, 3D modelling of hard tissue parts and their additive production. Doctoral studies provide students with great scientific potential and extensive research opportunities. The scientific activities of doctoral students are focused on research of materials used in additive production for biomedical applications, development of experimental methods, biomechanical analyses, measurement and control of production accuracy in biomedical engineering and evaluation of biocompatibility and cytotoxicity of biomaterials at the cellular level. In the field of prosthetics and orthotics, students can focus on solving issues of design, modelling and production of prosthetic and orthotic devices, biomechanics of movement and parameterization of the human body.
