Basic information

Pursuant to the Act of the National Assembly of the Slovak Republic No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended, and in compliance with the Regulation of the Admission Procedure of the Technical University of Košice, which forms Annex No.1 to the Statute of the Technical University, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Košice (FME TUKE) has specified the following conditions of admission to study at the FME TUKE for the academic year 2024/2025.

Pursuant to Section 56(1) of Act No 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, the basic condition for admission to the Bachelor’s study programme (first level study programme) is the acquisition of a full secondary or full vocational secondary education.

The application is submitted in electronic form only e-application.

Application fee for those interested in studying in Slovak language: 20€
Application fee for those interested in studying in English: 50€
The method of payment of the fee is by a bank transfer.

Graduates of Bachelor studies (I. level of university studies) have the opportunity to continue their studies in any Master study programme (II. level of university studies).

Method of selection

Admission to the study will take place in the form of a selection procedure; no entrance examinations will be held.

Applicants from abroad who apply to study in Slovak must pass a Slovak language test. If the applicant proves that he/she has passed the matriculation examination in the Slovak language, he/she does not have to take the test. 

The test will be administered in the Faculty’s premises on the appointed dates.

Assessment criteria

Applicants for the Bachelor’s study at the FME TUKE will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • overall results of studies at secondary school,
  • type of secondary school,
  • study of mathematics and physics, school-leaving examination in mathematics,
  • results of the Slovak language test for applicants from abroad studying in the Slovak language,
  • number of successful participations in a regional, national or higher round of an “Olympiáda” contest or other relevant knowledge competition.

Selection procedure

  1. Study of individual study programmes in individual forms will be open if a sufficient number of applicants apply for them.
  2. The number of candidates admitted to each study programme may be modified on the basis of the actual number of applications, social demand and the current capacity of the faculty.
  3. The Admission Committee will verify that the admission conditions have been met and on the basis of this will submit a proposal to the Dean of the Faculty for a decision. The applicant will be provided with information on the decision of the Admission Committee in the MAIS information system and subsequently in written form by mail.
  4. The final decision on the admission of applicants to the study will be made by the Dean of FME TUKE on the basis of the recommendation of the Admissions Committee.
  5. Applicants for Bachelor studies at FME TUKE will be admitted to the full-time form of study in attendance and combined method. The standard length of bachelor studies is three years.

Only one study programme can be listed per application form.

Applications can be submitted only electronically via the e-application form in the MAIS information system. In addition to completing the application form, the applicant interface in the MAIS allows the applicant to monitor the status of the application, confirmation of admission and validity, admission decisions and/or appeal decisions.

Documents required for the e-application:

  • proof of payment of the admission procedure fee,
  • CV,
  • report cards for the last 3 years of secondary school studies,
  • school leaving certificate (to be uploaded into the MAIS information system by the day of enrolment),
  • report card for the fourth year of secondary school studies (to be uploaded into the MAIS information system by the date of enrolment),
  • other documents, e.g. diplomas from competitions, certificates, etc.

 

Documents required for the e-application for applicants from abroad studying in Slovak:

  • proof of payment of the admission procedure fee,
  • CV,
  • copy of passport,
  • a certified copy of a transcript of grades for each secondary school year, with an official translation into Slovak,
  • a certified copy of the school leaving certificate with an official translation into Slovak,
  • apostille,
  • a decision on recognition of the document of education completed abroad (nostrification) issued by the Regional Office of School Administration in Košice / Regionálny úrad školskej správy v Košiciach/, Zádielska 1, 040 33 Košice,
  • other documents, e.g. diplomas from competitions, certificates, etc.

Admitted applicants who are interested in studying at FME TUKE will confirm their interest in studying in the following way:

  • pay the fees or tuition fees for enrolment by bank transfer only,
  • check and confirm his/her personal data in the MAIS information system,
  • upload his/her photograph to the MAIS information system,
  • complete the electronic enrolment procedure in the MAIS information system by the specified deadline.

The latest information is continuously published on the website of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Košice (www.sjf.tuke.sk), so it is necessary to monitor and follow it.
