Industrial Mechatronics (IMECH)

Mechatronics primarily integrates the knowledge from the fields of mechanics, electronics, informatics and control. Additionally, it makes it possible to improve the properties of existing products but also the development of completely new products. Mechatronics is already well established in almost all industries, such as automotive industry, industrial automation, robotics, consumer electronics, etc. Mechatronic options attract customers due to their user-friendliness as well as simplicity. A typical example is the automotive industry, e.g. the various assistance systems that increase comfort and safety, etc. This myriad of enhancements is the reason why customers prefer the options provided by mechatronic products. The study programme is focused on the preparation of experts in mechanical and electrical engineering that possess the knowledge like basics of informatics, modelling and simulation, as well as design and implementation of control systems and automated systems for mechanical product research and development.

It is all a combination of electronics, mechanics, programming, construction and design. All of this is provided by the Department of Mechatronics TUKE.

  • 7th place at the Robot Challenge 2012 competition in Vienna – in the category Puck Collector – Ing. Tomáš Salovka
  • Award in the “Science and technology person up to 35 years” – Ing. Rastislav Baláž, PhD.
  • 2nd place at the International Robotic Competition “Robotic Day 2013” in Prague – in the category of Mini Sumo Robot
  • Awards granted by the Association of Slovak Scientific and Technical Societies. ZSVTS Award – Ing. Maroš Palko (FME TUKE) – design of an experimental vehicle powered by compressed air.
  • Winner of the TOP Final – JA Company “Safe Step” from Gymnasium Trebišovská Košice, which was professionally managed by the Department of Mechatronics. The “Safe Step” product is both innovative and unique in that it helps to improve the visibility of pedestrian crossings and thus reduces the risk of car and pedestrian collision.
  • Award at the Thematic Exhibition EMA 2016 of the International Engineering Fair 2016. Pipeline inspection robot (For a top solution of robot locomotion in pipelines of various kinds)
  • Finalist of the nationwide competition for the best Master’s thesis in the field of robotics, organized by the National Robotics Centre – Ing. Jozef Kostka.
  • Pneumobile Aventics 2018 competition. In the Acceleration Race category, the team of our students and teachers won the 21st place with a maximum speed of 30.6 km / h, 16th place in the Arcade race category and 15th place in the Long distance category with a range of 3075 m.
  • 3 filed patent applications based on the results of student Master’s theses.
